New York City

Hello, this is Erin. I know we have not updated the website for a long time, so sorry. We have finished going down the Erie Canal. What I liked about the Canal is that there were lots of locks. I studied locks when I was in 5th grade. In the Erie Canal I got to go down a lot of them, 35 to be precise. They were like giant bath tub, only the locks were slimy .You had to hold onto slimy lines to keep our boat from bouncing around in the lock. We would write in the slime on the walls. It was funny because a friend of ours was behind us a few miles and when they went through the lock they saw our writing in the slime. We are in New York City. It is so big and at night there are a lot of lights. So far in New York we have been taking the subway. We got lost a couple of times but found our way home eventually. We never took the wrong train to the wrong place, but we got on a lot of trains then realized we were on the wrong train. We also got to see the US open (tennis game). It was great, we saw Roger Federer play and he won. It was a very close game. In the US open, the players would take a break and the camera men would show people in the audience. I didn’t get shown. They also gave away grills. We were in top section and you could hear people yell at Roger Federer. They would say things like “come on Roger” and “I love you Roger

Erin,

Nice description of the locks. It looks like you had a great tour of the city on the double decker bus, with the pictures of the trip to the Statue of Liberty being a nice bonus (I love the cloud cover).

I see the dot is now south of NYC, where are we headed to next?

Talk to you soon,
MP

What? You're giving me homework?!?!

Okay, so I looked up Cape May and if you go there, here's what I want to know:

1) How many steps are there in the Cape May Lighthouse's spiral staircase?

2) Is the Cape May Lighthouse still operational?

3) What is a Fire Control Tower?

4) Who is Emlen Physick?

5) What is in Hangar #1 at the Cape May County Airport?

6) Who lives in Cold Spring Village?

7) Which United States service academy has its training center in Cape May?

Remember, I'll know whether or not the dot goes to Cape May!

Have Fun and stay safe,
MP

The Emlen Physick Estate was built between 1879 and 1881 for Dr. Emlen Physick, a member of a prominent Philadelphia medical family. The house was designed by Frank Furness, a well-known Philadelphia architect. It is one of the few examples of his residential buildings that have survived without major alterations. Among the house's interesting features are its varied silhouettes, multiplication of gables, hooded dormer windows, and massive upside-down chimneys. Today the house is used as a Victorian museum.

HII!!!!!! WHAT'S UP?!?!?!??!!?!?!? I MISS U GUYS!!!!!!!!! This is an update about daily life here in Solon...For an update of STRS, practice is going good for the first week.....but nothing this year is gonna be the same w/o u guys. *sigh.......meets will never be the same.....and you guys are leaving me to control Anna, Tanner, Ryan, Elijah, Marissa and who knows how ever many people with just the work force of probably Katie, Ally, Dana and I? AHHH.
School is going well. Geneva, since I know that Erin will be taking Spanish, you need to take French - you get to go on a trip to Quebec every 2 years - I can go this year and am still trying to convince my parents - so you'd be able to go when you're in 8th! (also you'd then have a lot more vocab. than a 7th grader, seeing u do have to speak in french and everything..) Also, it is SO much better than the SPAINARDS NEXT DOOR IN SCHOOL - my class is always annoying them on purpose....heehee.....Classes are fun for everyone....i guess.....?????

Ok. Now that I have updated you on life here, I will talk about your trip - seeing that I write/type/talk...whatever...ALOT =] Anywho, things seem a lot of fun. I do ask of one question....when you guys wrote in the slime, please tell me you didn't write with your bare fingers PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE TELL ME THAT. Otherwise, I'm just getting really grossed out (as you know i have a very active imagination - this is sometimes a blessing and a curse..)
I saw in your mom's email that Erin is happy to have her space back and the reasons why. Haha.
It's also really cool how you got to see the crab fishing going on. That must have been really cool. Even though it's of course nothihng compared to fishing in Alaska, like deadlist catch, (duh.) I envy you guys for getting to see it right before you....
I see in the pictures that Geneva is doing what nature told her she was born to do - SHOP. haha. Also, it was awesome that you got tickets to see the US Open. Must have been really exicting, being a close match and all.
Last thing - tell me how being on a double decker bus was. Now that is something I want to do. Were you guys on top?

LYBLAS,
Halle =]
Answer my questions please!!=]
